For Susan's birthday, our friend Corinth made a shirt for Susan, and a matching romper for Felix! We tried it on him a couple days ago, and it looked so cute we had to take a pic with his mom in her shirt, along with the talented seamstress. Thanks Corinth! You're the best!

New Plaid Duds for Mom and Baby
For Susan's birthday, our friend Corinth made a shirt for Susan, and a matching romper for Felix! We tried it on him a couple days ago, and it looked so cute we had to take a pic with his mom in her shirt, along with the talented seamstress. Thanks Corinth! You're the best!
Felix's first Twin's Game
Felix, Susan, Nicola and Corinth went to a Twin's game this past weekend! Felix did great...for the first 5 innings... and then needed to get away from all the clapping and cheering - it was a little loud for his baby ears. Nicola and Felix had quite an adventure finding a place to nurse him (besides in the stands...which worked quite well, actually). It turns out that the commisioner's office is available for women to nurse their babies...so we finally found it, and that's where we went! Unfortunately, the game was not broadcast in the office, so we missed out on the last part of the game, which was the exciting part! The Twins beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3.

A Trip to Michigan
Felix, mama Nicola, and his Nana, took a little trip to Michigan this past week to meet his relatives. We went to the Drodt reunion, had lunch with the Swehla's, and visited mom's old haunt Tony Packo's. Felix got lots of loving and holding and really enjoyed himself...except for riding in that darn carseat!

Heading North
In the carseat, enjoying the sights!
Adam's new apartment (on the top floor)
And here's the view from the front porch!
Susan and Felix in their UMD Bulldog gear
This week Felix, his moms, uncle Adam, and grandpa all took a drive up to Duluth to see the apartment Adam will be moving to, and the UMD campus. It was a lot of driving, but Felix did pretty well...for the most part (not so crazy about the carseat for long periods)! We got him a UMD Bulldogs sweatshirt which he loves, and we checked out a park near Adam's place that Felix will be able to play at when he's a little bit older.
A Smiling SPNN Baby

This has been an exciting week for Felix because he is now smiling, intentionally! He smiles at faces, black and white pictures, the bed frame (its black too), and sometimes when he gets his diaper changed. It is so fun to see him smile...we could sit and watch him all day!
This picture of Felix smiling is also special because he is wearing a onesie made by folks in the Youth Programs Department at SPNN. Thanks to everyone in YAC who made it! We love it! In case you can't read it, it says "SPNN Baby".

Felix loves WPBP

Felix wants to show off his new Women's Prison Book Project t-shirt. His auntie Nina made the shirt for him. As soon as he has better control of his neck muscles, Felix hopes to volunteer at book mailings.
Felix at Mayday
This past Sunday Felix attended his very first May Day festival. He wasn't sure about what to make of all the giant puppets, but he seemed to enjoy himself.

A Spring Walk at Eloise Butler

We took a lovely walk at Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden this weekend. There was not much in bloom (yet), but we got to see lots of buds, and an area that was recently burned (intentionally, that is). Felix slept through the walk, but his mamas had a very nice time relaxing and enjoying the warm sunny day.
Uncle Adam's in Town!

We are all very excited because Uncle Adam (Nicola's brother) is in town for a few weeks to visit Felix! He's also here to find an apartment in Duluth for the fall (he'll be teaching at UMD), but we won't tell Felix that! So far Adam and Felix have had a lot of bonding moments...Adam holding Felix while he cried at the midtown exchange, Adam loading the humungo stroller in and out of the car, and them both napping at the same time (but in different rooms). Its only been a few hours since we picked Adam up from the lightrail, so hopefully more memorable moments are to come.
I have no pics to memorialize these precious moments, so I am posting one of Felix on the amazing quilt that Adam made him. The colors correspond to the book "Brundibar" which is where Felix's nickname Pepicek came from. You can read up on that by clicking here. Incidentally, the Zapata onesie Felix is wearing was made by his Auntie Nina.
Felix and Birdie

Felix has gotten a lot of cool gifts...too many to mention in this post. But we had to show this pic of Felix and Earl E Bird, a gift from his out of town aunties Rachel and Ann. Thanks y'all! Note: this is not just any old bird...it is also an educational toy! Felix is still a little befuddled by birdie, but hopefully soon he will be touching, chewing, and lovin' birdie up!
