Birthday Boy

Felix celebrated his birthday today one month late. The theme was "dance party", and boy, was there some dancin'! Here we are doing the hokey pokey.


There was also some serious crafting. We made disco balls...


and "shakers" (plastic bottles with beads in 'em, and stickers on the outside - thanks Articulture for the inspiration). What you can't see in the picture below is that there are probably six kids all shaking their "shakers" at the same time. It was a moment that was both hilarious and torturous all at the same time.


Felix knew what to do when the candle-lit cake was placed before him, but missed his chance because his friend Spence got excited and ran over to blow out the candle too (he just turned two as well). We pretended to re-light the candle so Felix got basically the same experience, sans fire.


After that, there was cake to be eaten!



Thanks to everyone who came! We had a wonderful time and danced ourselves silly.

Happy Bunny, Eggs, and Spring Day (AKA Easter)!

For a family that is not so religiously inclined, Felix has managed to hit the jackpot this holiday with 3, yes 3, Easter Egg hunts and gatherings! It has been a busy and fun week, but I must admit that we are all a little worn out and ready to move on to the next holiday...whatever that may be. Here are a few highlights from the Magic Bunny Express.

Last weekend Felix and his moms got together with a few members of his playgroup to gather eggs and tear apart our friends Dave and Kristy's house. This picture was taken just a few seconds before Felix started whipping plastic eggs, followed by Spencer, the one on the right, quickly following suit! Addie, the one on the left, was a little too mature for all this nonsense.


This Sunday, Felix dressed up in his Easter finest - pants from his mama Nicola's childhood collection. Corduroy bunnies! His bonnet is courtesy of a local seamstress who sells her kids clothing at the Midtown Farmer's Market. After a delicious brunch, Felix, Zora and Gil traipsed around the back yard finding eggs - the actual boiled and dyed variety.

After which, the kidlets happily broke open an egg and ate it...well, some of it. Then, Felix realized that peeling an egg was not as much fun as crushing it! So, he did that to a couple. Oh well, egg salad sounded good in theory, and probably will stay that way.


Lastly, the fun continued at the Pine grandparents' house where Felix had a super time finding eggs..with cool things inside them! First he found a little baby chickie that made sounds when you pressed the bottom.

Then, some bunny crackers, inspired by an earlier Easter egg hunt:)

And then, the highlight of the experience...Sesame Street figurines! Cookie Monster, Elmo, Grover, and Big Bird were all represented. Last I heard, they were being driven around in a dump truck and then stuffed in a small purple purse with the command "zip, zip"! Hopefully they'll make it out alive.

Baby Love

We've been a little busy lately, since our trip to the OC. So, I have some catchin' up to do. And Felix has been busy too. When Mr. Fi isn't playing with his kitchen set, driving cars, or playing with his Thomas bath toy, he is strolling "the kids" (as he calls them) around in their stroller.

The "kids" include Louis (red hair), Frances (purple hair and dress) and Baby (a freaky looking baby doll that we picked up for 99 cents from Value Village). Of course, Felix loves Baby the best.

Felix likes to give Baby bottles, rock Baby to sleep, sing "ba ba black sheep" to baby, and throw baby down the stairs and then say "uh oh". I am not even going to try to explain what that means...Despite how homely Baby is, I have to admit, his affection for him/her is pretty cute.
