Viewfinder

Some loyal Pepicek readers (and I am sure there are many of you out there) may have noticed the marked decrease in blog entries lately. While I clearly should take most if not all of the blame, I can't help but point out the other growing issue, which is the featured person of this blog's unwillingness to get his picture taken. What Felix really wants to do, I discovered, is take the pictures, which I can't help but be a little pleased with, considering my own obsession with images, and interest in youth having as much agency in their lives as humanly possible. I may be reading a little too much into this, as it could just be toddler-stubborness, but I prefer to see it in a positive light, and am working to find a way to channel this energy so that he gets to author some images, and I get to document a fleeting part of my child's life.

Until then, here are some pictures that Felix took of his blocks, his favorite of which is the cat - featured below. The cat actually came with the legos, and also fits into the little window which you can see in the top photo. A favorite game of Felix's is to place the cat in and out of the window frame and say "hi" and "bye" to it. He also likes to kiss the cat when we are done playing legos. The best thing to do with the legos, though, is to build cities consisting of many extremely tall towers, that I like to think are part of a futuristic universe a la Bladerunner.

Vroom Vroom

Last night Felix, Corinth, and Louis (Felix's new doll) were really goin' places! They went to the pool, and when they got there they did "splash splash" (swimming). Felix has been exploding with word lately as well as nonintelligible babble talk. Other new words include barrette, burner (on the stove), Manda (for Amanda), back, and pod (for iPod). Pretty exciting!

4 Eyes

Felix has taken a liking to his mama's glasses and barrettes lately. So much so that she has to have an extra barrette on hand, as he often pulls the one in her hair out, and tries to put it in his own hair.

Glasses are another issue entirely. After breaking her first pair, and bending her currrent ones so when closed they spell the letter "K", Felix has finally gotten the hang of things. Now, he very carefully opens the glasses and hands them to his mama in the morning. After that she says "thank you", and he says "thank you" (sounds like "tee-too") right back to her, clearly honored by the chance to handle these amazing specs.

Fall Fairy Tale

Once upon a time there was actually grass you could see on the ground, leaves to be raked, and fun to be had for young and old in the back yard.

Then, evil Memory Card stole some lovely photos, for what was thought to be forever. Fortunately, thanks to the hero in this story, Modern Technology, the photos were retrieved - after a small fee. Most of them were not worth the struggle, but there were a few gems, shown here in their full glory. In the end, Mama, Felix, the leaves, and "The Wonders of Modern Technology" lived happily ever after. And what of evil Memory Card? It has been "reformated".

Bowl-O-Rama

Felix had a great time bowling with the Pine family clan at Memory Lanes

While he wasn't able to pick up any of the balls, he loved watching everyone bowl, and let out an exuberant shriek of excitement whenever anyone got a strike, spare, or for that matter, even a gutterball.

Equally fun and exciting were the delicious French Fries that Auntie Caitlin generously shared with her nephew. Dipping them in the catsup and sucking the catsup off the fries was often more fun than eating them!
