Milk Drunk
I love the look on Felix's face after he is done nursing. He looks so satisfied and so completely at peace with the world. I remember how hard it was when I first started breastfeeding. It was painful and awkward and time consuming! I am so glad I continued through the rough spots: through the blocked milk ducts, the awkward times in public, and squeezing in pumping three times a day at work. Nursing Felix is such a special experience, it is worth the hassle. It feels good to know I can give him such a healthy food that is made just for him. And it is nice to know that I can comfort in a special way that noone else can, that helps him feel safe and loved. Someday he will learn many other ways to feel secure. But right now, I am glad that he has me...and my boobs.

A workin' man
This is a little bit of a bittersweet post. Tuesday was my last day of maternity leave, and Felix's last day of fulltime mama-time. On Wednesday we packed his lunchbag (full of bottles) and he started daycare, and did wonderfully! His daycare provider Debbie is wonderful, and Felix adjusted really well. Sleeping and eating, and getting lots of laptime and attention from the other kids. While it was really sad for Susan and I to not have him be at home with one of us, we are glad he is in such a safe and loving place, and glad the he has adapted so smoothly. Of course it wasn't without a few hitches, one of which is that he needed to nurse A LOT both days when he got home, and all evening. But, his mama was totally ok with that!
Smiles and more

While you can see from the pics how much bigger Felix is getting (14 1/2 pounds as of Monday!), and cuter, I thought I'd talk about the other stuff. For one thing...talking! Every day he makes a new sound, and is totally talking to people and inanimate objects that he loves - namely his black and white mobile and pictures near his changing table. He has also found his hand, and loves to suck on it (well, second to the breast). Lastly, he has learned to roll on to his side, so his moms have to be a little more careful about leaving him places. He still has yet to make the full 180 degree turn onto his tummy, but it won't be long! As for the onesie, isn't it cute? Thanks to John, Susan's bro...we love it!
