Felix's Weekend

Felix's weekend was filled with unexpected surprises and fleeting moments of cuteness (per usual - life with a toddler is like riding the ocean waves). It started out a bit low, as Felix woke up with a fever on Friday and went to the clinic to get it checked out later that day. At the doctor's office, Felix rose to the occasion and managed to produce a urine sample in the "hat" on the toilet. He was very happy with himself, and kept saying the rest of the day - "I peed in a hat"! It turned out there was no infection present anywhere, and the fever was just due to a virus.
The following morning, Felix's fever broke and he seemed to be getting back to normal. We did a little gardening, and picked this heirloom eggplant in our front yard. Felix was most excited about using the scissors to cut it off the vine. We then packed up for a short camping trip with friends, but later in the morning decided to call it off due to incoming rainstorms. This was probably for the best, as about noon, Felix's mood turned dark like the sky, and he veered towards tears rapidly. After a LONG nap, Felix woke, and after a quite torturous adjustment period, was ready for interaction with others. We headed to the park where we met our friends we'd intended to camp with for a picnic dinner. This change in scenery greatly improved Felix's mood, and soon he was chomping on corn, climbing ladders, playing ball with Spence, and hopping with Addie throughout the park. When we got home, a long bath ensued, and Felix was fitted with this stylish mohawk.
Sunday brought a slightly more rested Felix, and we started things out with scrambled eggs and fried potatoes and yams. Felix and his mama were instructed to gather some herbs for the eggs, and went outside to the Herb (or shall we say Thyme since that's what it mostly is) Garden to snip some. Apparently there was a misunderstanding, as Felix thought we were snipping "worms", not "herbs". He had seen a worm in the yard a few weeks earlier, so there was some context to this association. After finally convincing Felix that we would not, indeed, be snipping or even locating some worms, we headed back inside to eat.

The morning continued with some couch jumping (Felix's favorite indoor activity), Yo Gabba Gabba viewing, and cat petting, before Felix headed upstairs for his nap - another mega one. Afterwards, Felix got the opportunity to sample the chocolate turtle pie his mama had made during his nap. He decided that it was pretty good, but when it was served after dinner, he took two bites, then said it was "too spicy" and asked for a popsicle.
