Prison Busting Pancakes and Woolly Mammoths come to Powderhorn

Yes, folks, its is true. Our neighborhood was taken over this weekend by all sorts of flora and fauna, and Felix was there to witness it all.

First, we went to the Women's Prison Book Project Pancake Breakfast - a group we helped found many years back when Susan and I had more time on our hands. Now we cheer from the sidelines and help out from time to time when Felix lets us. The pancakes (both vegan and buttermilk) were delicious, as well as the grits (which I am eating in this flattering photo).

Felix also got to appear once again on Fox 9 News as they were there to cover the breakfast. The first time was at an Arsenic hearing back in August. He really is becoming quite the little activist! Here's Fox 9 interviewing Sarah as she wows them with facts and lore.

Than, later that same day, we headed for the first annual Powderhorn Art Sled Rally - continuing a tradition that goes way back of celebrating winter.

While no photos were taken of the occasion, here is some actual footage of the event if you don't believe the Woolly Mammoth reference. Despite the blisteringly cold winds and an unfortunate fall on the ice while carrying Felix, we had an awesome time cheering on the sleds and admiring their creativity. Maybe next year we'll combine these two events by making a WPBP Pancake Sled!

We were out of town this weekend and missed both the pancake breakfast AND the art sled rally. We heard both were great!

How come Sara wasn't holding Felix when she spoke with the press? He coulda automatically doubled WPbP's media time!
