Today was the first full-day of our vacation to San Clemente CA. The weather was perfect - warm, but not too warm. We checked out the San Clemente farmer's market, and then headed to the pier. If this was the only place we went on our entire vacation, I think Felix would have been perfectly happy. There was so much so absorb, you could see him taking it all in. First there was the ocean, and specifically the waves. Then, the surfers - about 5 of them in wetsuits riding the waves. Then, the pigeons on the boardwalk! And the sand below! If all that wasn't enough, every 5-10 minutes a train would go by. How good can it get?

We are on vacation with my family - mom, dad, sisters Caitlin and Alayna, her boyfriend Robby, and brother Adam who will join us later. It is truly a family affair! We are staying in a HUGE mcmansion house outside of San Clemente with one bathroom for each bedroom. While the accommodations are a little extravagant for my taste, it is nice to be able to spread out, and for Felix's naps and (still midwestern) sleep schedule to continue without shutting down all activity.

Mostly, its been nice to spend time with the little munchkin, who we never seem to get enough of...

and watch as he discovers things for the first time. How did life get so complicated? I only have to spend a few minutes with Felix and I am reminded of the importance of living life in the present and enjoying the small things, like the 3 shells he gave me at the end of our time on the boardwalk.
